I’m 22, this is my last semester of college and after I finish I’ve decided to embark on the adventure of moving to another country without speaking a word of the language there. So as I go to class and finish up my long tenure in school I constantly think forward to January, when it will be cold here in New York, but warm and sunny in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the city that will be my new home.
I’m constantly bombarded by media, especially when I leave my house to go anywhere in the city. For this reason, I try to control how much media I’m exposed to and what media exposes me whenever possible. For example, I haven’t quite jumped on the Twitter bandwagon, simply because I think it’s unnecessary for me personally. I do have Facebook but everything on my profile is private because I wish to be selective about who can see what about me, especially people I don’t know. While many people create media personas, mine is very much a reflection of who I am. The tidbits of information on Facebook are true, that I love the New York Yankees and that my favorite book is Pride & Prejudice. Mostly, media plays an informative role in my life. I use the Internet and publications to gain information instead of using them as networks to publicize myself. While the world of blogging is quite foreign to me, I am looking forward to becoming a bit more tech savvy.
