The National Organization for Women

The National Organization for Women (NOW) is an organization working for the rights of women. Their website, http://www.now.org/ addresses current issues like abortion rights, economic equality, gender discrimination, lesbian rights, and other issues involving sexism, racism, and discrimination. NOW as an alternative new source, is made by and for women, providing hot topics and a blog which members can participate and learn about the issues which surround women today. The organization was founded in 1966 by Betty Friedan and Pauli Murray and currently is led by four elected national officers. The organization and its members have worked hard for the rights of women, and bring forth national issues to the forefront by providing information and news to everyone interested. The organization has worked hard to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) which had not been ratified in all 50 states. This is strange to myself because the ERA is simply,"was an amendment to the United States Constitution which was intended to guarantee that equal rights under any federal, state, or local law could not be denied on account of sex." Seems like a pretty simple thing to ask for, but has not been ratified this MAP shows the states which have not ratified something which should have been done long ago.
